I had the privilege to listen in preview this new album of Lorenzo Montanà. Perfectly produced tracks, with meticulous arrangements and top-notch sound design. Very interesting the idea to mix jazzy elements with ambient and IDM. In some moments the record sounds like Japan, of the "Tin Drum" era, crossed path with Telefon Tel Aviv! A masterpiece!

Lorenzo Montanà is an Italian soundtrack composer, sound engineer, and producer with a prolific career spanning decades. Vion is his 29th full-length album and marks his first solo effort for the Oakland-based emotive electronics outpost n5MD. Montanà's musical journey began in the 90s, and he has produced and arranged over 40 albums across various genres, including electronic, ambient, leftfield, jazz, classical, and rock.
Vion started as an exploration of jazz brush drum patterns, evolving into a rich tapestry of experimental electronica motifs and percolating ambiance. Montanà's signature motion-filled compositions are evident throughout the album, characterized by ever-evolving details and a sense of lightness juxtaposed with melancholic tonality.
Montanà's discography includes his debut solo album 'Black Ivy' (2009), the 5-CD Labyrinth collaboration series with Pete Namlook on Namlook's FAX label, and rewarding collaborative releases with artists like Namlook, Yamaoka, ILUITEQ, and Alio Die for the Projekt label. His work as a soundtrack composer has been featured in trailers for notable films such as The Hunger Games 1 & 2, Blade Runner 2049, and Coriolanus.
Vion will be released on May 31st on transparent red vinyl, showcasing Montanà's continued exploration and innovation in the electronic music landscape.

Wow, this and vol.2 really took me by surprise! Absolutely top notch beaty ambience (my favorite kind). Reminds me slightly of The Detroit Escalator Co - high praise indeed! jonjons
The electroacoustic numbers on the new LP from memotone are intriguingly surreal, with shape-shifting pads and mist-like melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 18, 2021
